Dionne: "Think About The Money Put In People's Pockets When They're Saving From Subsidies"
RCP Video ^ | 2-9-2014

(snip)

E.J. DIONNE: Well, this did not say, "ObamaCare is a job killer." On the contrary, when Doug Elmendorf of the C.B.O. testified, he said that this will probably net create jobs. Just think about the money put in people's pockets when they're saving on their insurance from subsidies. What he said is some people might temporarily or leave the labor force.

Think of two people, we're supposed to be for family values. You have a couple where somebody wants to leave the labor force for a couple years to take care of their kids. Under the old system, if that person tells the health insurance, they didn't have the option to leave. Now they can. What you're doing is expanding people's choices. But you're also in the end going to create jobs out of it.

What about the money from people who lost their catastrophic plans that are now paying 80-200% more with $12,000 deductibles? Can we think about those people, or is that raysis?

Where do they come from, easy from those stupid enough to go to work and pay taxes, sarcasm off. After following this argument for a few days I’ve come to the conclusion this place is so far gone to be unredeemable...last worker out, turn out the night please.

I'm listening to Rush now.

It's obvious that the Democrats have figured out that they're facing a disaster in this year's election, and have decided to shoot the moon.

Columnist Ross Douthat, who's column Leaving Work Behind sounds like a re-hash of themes I've been promoting here at FR over the last six months or so, is just one of many columnists quoted by Rush who have given away the Democrats game, at least to those who have eyes to see it.

So, you can take a gallon of water from one end of the pool, and raise the water level at the other end by pouring it in?

Are they really THAT stupid?

The #1 job of Federal government is to ‘put $$$ in peoples pockets’ so they spend it?

What if Obama-care raised the price of health care for most people then bought off a minority % of them with these subsidy handouts?

And you have to reduce your income to get them?

So, you can take a gallon of water from one end of the pool, and raise the water level at the other end by pouring it in?

Don't forget about spilling half of it on the ground while trotting over to the other end of the pool.

IOW, the answer to your question is a resounding yes.

OMG - are they actually serious or are they just trying to support something they know is a complete disaster??

If I quit my job because now I get free health care (actually it isn’t) paid for by my fellow citizens then how do I pay for clothes, utilities, mortgage, gas, etc?

I remember a question in philosophy - “If everyone did it, would it be ok?” What if everyone quit their job so they could get free health care?

Their rationale is mind boggling.

More liberal BS. Well, I guess those who were stupid enough to vote twice for OhVomit are stupid enough to believe this latest round of fairy tales.

Yet tax cuts are unconscionable! We want the people to have more money by having them keep more the money they earned. They want the people to have more money by filling out the right forms at the federal bureaucracy.

And they believe and repeat everything they hear their leaders and pundits say. And I truly believe they believe it with all their heart.

The people who are eligible for subsidies are not the kind of people who tend to save money.
The people who work and who you are taking the money from, they are the kind more likely to save, but now it's a lot harder.
