Oh, what nonsense!!! First of all, 'The Way International' is not 'Hebrew Roots'. In fact, a short perusal of their Doctrins show nothing Messianic at all. Hebrew Roots has many sects, and is an umbrella term for 'Messianic' Christians, in much the same way as Messianic Jews are distinct from Jews. Those you are dealing with here are all of the Two-House Messianic sect. But there are many others.
Secondly, Our Messianic Jewish brethren are certainly and necessarily a touch stand-offish to 'Hebrew Roots' Christians, because Messianic Jews retain their Jewish Tradition of the Elders, which Hebrew Roots folks will *not* follow, in the same sense as the Protestants abhor Catlick tradition.
But without a doubt, Messianic Jews are closer to my kind than to yours - Torah is a very big deal to them, as to us, and that necessarily provides for more kinship than with those who believe the Torah is to be ignored.
Roods beliefs are mostly derived from the Shem Tov
No, they are not. He uses Shem Tov as reference, primarily when trying to suss out things in KJV that are tough sledding. He also uses the Aramaic and the Septuagint in the very same way. The primary thing he draws from in the Shem Tov is Mat 23, to derive a meaning from Mat 23:2 that I already derived outright from KJV - He uses it as a proof for something that is already evident... And btw, what that says in very plain terms, takes UTTERLY AWAY 'the authority of the Jewish sages' which you claim it is designed to uphold. It is the KJV that, if taken with no knowledge of Judaism, 'upholds the sages', and Rood uses the Shem Tov to knock it down in the KJV. And he is right to do so. To say he MOSTLY comes from the Shem Tov is an egregious inflation of monumental proportions. The statement is false on it's face.
The problem is that the Shem Tov is a completely corrupted translation and denies the deity of Christ. Which by the way Roods friend and Karaite (a whole nother apostasy in itself which Rood and his new wife took vows to) also does.
Here is another whole pile of nonsense.
Whether or not the Shem Tov 'denies the deity of Christ' is immaterial (and I really don't remember it that way). Rood certainly does not. Rood certainly CANNOT, as the principle proof that two-house (and most) Messianics go by is that Yeshua IS YHWH.
As to 'Karaite (a whole nother apostasy in itself', your ignorance is showing. Messianic Christians have a closer affiliation to Jewish Karaites because they do not retain (reject) the Jewish Tradition of the Elders. They are to Judaism as Protestants are to Catlicks. Messianic Karaites are Karaites who believe in Yeshua as Messiah and embrace the Brit Hadasha - Is it any wonder that Messianic Christians would embrace them?
But even standard Karaites (like Nehemiah Gordon, who you defame) wind up having a lot more in common with Messianics than other Jewish sects. And because they are not tainted by the Jewish Tradition, Messianics tend to go to them to inquire about Hebrew perspectives.
And OH NOES! Rood got married in a Karaite marriage ceremony!!! THAT is somehow an heresy? Was it Messianic Karaite, or strictly Karaite? Does that make a difference?
Did or did not Rood spend many years as a leader in The Way International and was he or was he not ordained by that cult?
>>As to 'Karaite (a whole nother apostasy in itself', your ignorance is showing.<<
The Karaites and a leader of the who is also a close friend of Rood deny the deity of Jesus as anyone can find out by doing just a little research on them. Rood and his current wife Judith also were married in a Karaite ceremony where they pledged their beliefs.
