Did you actually read the article? Palin did not give McCain a free pass - not even close.

In 35 posts, not a single person read the full article. That’s obvious. How FReepers can be so opinionated and yet so ignorant is beyond belief. What is so difficult about reading the full article and learning why she praised him and then slapped him down?
What’s wrong with these people?
Yes, I’ve read it a couple of times. I’m assuming this is the part that is considered taking McCain to task. I guess I just don’t see it. She says they disagree on some things. Hardly taking him to task.It sounds more like she wanted to come to McCain’s defense and put a little postscript to her support to cover all her bases. I’m disappointed that she did this.
“It goes without saying we don’t all agree on all political issues. For instance, I shall keep pushing to open ANWR, I oppose letting illegal aliens cut in line and receive American benefits via “immigration reform,” and I oppose any Congressional action that allows President Obama to incur more U.S. debt.”
It sounded more to me like she wanted to please John McCain and her conservative base at the same time. That’s not possible without being just a bit disengenuous which is the last thing this country needs right now. There are more important things to worry about than stroking McCains ego and sparing his feelings. When a leader like Sarah, who may have her eyes on the WH this is something that bothers me a bit. Just saying.
Every candidate has weaknesses. We can’t put on blinders about them. While this wouldn’t necessarily eliminate her from my choices it certainly is something I will remember and notice if I see more of it. However it certainly wouldn’t be on the same level if she had spoken out in favor of amnesty.
