This image is actually a great example of the magnetic field lines I referred to in my post 39. That long rope-like structure is a bundle of highly intensified magnetic field lines poking out of the surface just as the model in 39 illustrated. Again, about 110 planet earths could fit side by side across the diameter of the sun. So this structure is obviously humongous.

The X1 flare has sent a coronal mass ejection into space, and its heading towards Earth. Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die.

With the size of that magnetic loop, Earth would probably be like a marble compared to a basketball hoop ;)

Thanks for your responses. I got a better feel for it. Thank you very much.

If the earth was .5 in wide, the sun would be about 4.5 feet wide.

The sun's solar cycle, which is magnetic in nature, has an average period of about 11 years. It is currently approaching the peak of the cycle. You are just a denier! This is man caused due to our carbon emissions and the only way to stop it is to tax somebody.

I don’t know if they can predict how far south they can be seen. But according to https://earthsky.org/space/sun-unleashes-x-flare, when talking about the best time to look for the northern lights from this flare: “ For us in the United States, that means you should look outside on the morning of January 9, between midnight and dawn. If youre clouded out at that time, try anytime during the night of January 9-10.”

Send in the EPA and that ol’ Sun will be at half intensity in less than 3 weeks.
