Thanks for your comments and unfortunately to often true.

Raising two children, I know how much easier it is to give than to require. My wife and I have tried as often as possible to teach our children that their choices have consequences and more importantly to allow the full brunt of the consequences to impact them.

It is very hard when everyone is so busy just trying to get things done, to make the time and spend the energy on what is right regarding instilling good character.

The battles have often been heated and drawn out, but the kids are going away knowing that it is worth fighting for what is right. Not perfect, but the best we could do. Hoping our kids carry on the tradition.

It is - and thank you for trying.

I see so many parents just giving up and giving in. That doesn't help the children in the long run, nor the country. But it makes it more difficult that most parents aren't as involved with their children - and I'm sure your kids point out that EVERY other child has lots of expensive toys, no chores, no curfews. My son tried that as well ;)
