This is about the OTHER “ark,” the Ark of the Covenant, not Noah’s ark.

Oh, THAT ark. Haha. Yes, that was the important one.
I remember hearing all kinds of tales as to what happened to it. The wood would have rotted a LONG time ago but the commandments were in stone, so they were/are somewhere.

There was an Indiana Jones movie about it, wasn't there?

The ark was made of Acacia wood which is very dense and rot resistant. Apply cedar oil to it about once or twice a year and it will last forever just like stone.

Certain fungi are what rots wood. Cedar oil kills fungi and otherwise won’t let it penetrate to the wood. If the wood is very dense as Acacia wood is, then the fungi have a hard time penetrating. Combination of very dense wood with a preservative like Cedar oil keeps fungi out.
