In his press conference on December 20th, President Obama urged the House of Representatives to support the Senates immigration bill, which passed 68-32 in late June. Among the concerns cited by Americans who oppose reform are that immigrants will take their jobs, drive down wages, increase criminal activity, burden the welfare system, and reshape the cultural dynamic of the country. These concerns are mostly ill-founded. The legitimate concerns have real solutions, and a more open immigration policy will be a net benefit for all Americans...
Highlights from Article:
- A 2013 study by the American Action Forum states that "immigration reform can raise population growth, labor force growth, and thus growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
- In 2013 the Bipartisan Policy Center came to similar conclusions. It makes the prediction that current provisions, as included in the Senate Bill, would raise GDP 4.8 percent over twenty years.
- According to the Immigration Policy Center, immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 39 (which constitute the greatest portion of the prison population) are five times less likely to be incarcerated than are natives.
- A 2011 survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 92 percent of second generation and 96 percent of third generation Hispanics speak English proficiently.
- A 2010 Gallup poll revealed that Hispanics attend church services more often than non-Hispanic whites.
- Since an influx of immigrants means an expansion of the labor supply, many assert that the result will be less jobs and lower wages. However, as asserted by Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, The number of jobs in the United States is not static. Its fluid, which is how we want it to be.

Wearing Armour in court could have been considered against the dress code.

Armor was painted.
Usually a lacquer for “dress” armor, not worn in court but for other functions, the lacquer lasted awhile.
The usual method of painting was a wash, much like a lime wash, that didn’t last.
Linen was also a cloth type in use at the time.

Armor, for the most part though, wasn’t painted.
That was rare, and more time consuming than gilding or engraving.
Gilding armor took skill, and went hand in hand with engraving.

Decorating probably cost as much as the plating underneath it.
Best to just give it a good buff up then lacquer it to stop the rust.
Didn't do much good anyway, the Bodkin point (Arrow head) created the lovely square holes visible in museum exhibits to day. That had to hurt.

Stung just a little.
If they didn’t lacquer or otherwise decorate the armor, there was a jerkin, I forget the actual term for it, that went overtop the armor.
This was usually decorated with colors indicating who you were or who you fought for.
Or it just marked you as the guy everyone should hate on today.

"It is funny that JFK doesnt get credit for Vietnam and immigration, NicknamedBob ~ They scrubbed it. They also scrubbed Dukes of Hazzard
I've often wondered why they was no TV series about Vietnamese immigrants.
Say one about a family that moved to a fictional county in Georgia and attempted to settle in and fit. The kids would carry on typical teenaged hijinks cruising with their orange rice-rocket General Ree.
I, of course, refer to that epic and critically acclaimed series The Gooks of Hazzard...

But "cut and paste" doesn't always work too well. That's how you get strange characters (not specifically referring to myself here). Oh yeah.
Fixing tagline...

I've often wondered why they was no TV series about Vietnamese immigrants. Every once in a while, a TV series named "Vanishing Son" included Vietnamese immigrants in the story.

Odd that they are so invisible on TV. The story is a very rich microcosm of all that made America great, and *oh* nevermind...

I was gone 40 minutes and I come back to find I’ve been transported to Camelot...(not the one in MA)...
The blood draw was not a fun experience today. Seems my vein didn’t want to close up. Odd, the needle hardly hurt when it when it but coming out felt like my elbow was being sucked inside the vial...
*shudder*
I’m glad I don’t do that very often. I had to go soak my WHITE sweater.
