Dispelling Myths: The Case for Immigration Reform [Enjoy your made-in-America ZOT, troll]
Red Dirt Report ^ | 12/27/2013 | Brian Woodward

Posted on 12/27/2013 11:24:17 AM PST by honestabe010

In his press conference on December 20th, President Obama urged the House of Representatives to support the Senate’s immigration bill, which passed 68-32 in late June. Among the concerns cited by Americans who oppose reform are that immigrants will take their jobs, drive down wages, increase criminal activity, burden the welfare system, and reshape the cultural dynamic of the country. These concerns are mostly ill-founded. The legitimate concerns have real solutions, and a more open immigration policy will be a net benefit for all Americans...

Highlights from Article:

- A 2013 study by the American Action Forum states that "immigration reform can raise population growth, labor force growth, and thus growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).”

- In 2013 the Bipartisan Policy Center came to similar conclusions. It makes the prediction that current provisions, as included in the Senate Bill, would raise GDP 4.8 percent over twenty years.

- According to the Immigration Policy Center, immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 39 (which constitute the greatest portion of the prison population) are five times less likely to be incarcerated than are natives.

- A 2011 survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 92 percent of second generation and 96 percent of third generation Hispanics speak English proficiently.

- A 2010 Gallup poll revealed that Hispanics attend church services more often than non-Hispanic whites.

- Since an influx of immigrants means an expansion of the labor supply, many assert that the result will be less jobs and lower wages. However, as asserted by Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, “The number of jobs in the United States is not static. It’s fluid, which is how we want it to be.”

If tens of millions of Mexicans will make the United States a better place, why didn’t it work in Mexico?

That doesnt SEEM to be a minor question!

I’m in Northern California and we are INUNDATED with illegals.

in the last fifteen years I’ve seen scant few OTM gardeners...or construction workers at work locally.

Yeah, that is a good point.
Here in southern NY near the onion fields, we had “seasonal workers” come in every growing season.
Surprise, the crime rate went into orbit every time.
And when the “seasonal workers” left, the crime rate would drop.
The local officials couldn’t figure it out.
Then, one of the last times ICE actually did their “immigration” job here, they rounded up on one farm 290+ or so illegals out of 300+ workers.
Again, crime rate dropped.
“But there was no correlation” was the claim about it afterwards.

We have red, yellow, white and bilious green for firetrucks here...

That's "Santa Ana Gold", m'lady.

It's far more visible at dusk and dawn when red can look black, and obviously more visible in snow than white.

Yep. If we had a mail slot in the door, he’d do that. He loves reaching under doors, too. As soon as he discovers there is a hooman appendage (like a toe) he retracts his claws and moves to the slapping part. He’s nice that way.

Mimi was a little bloodthirsty.
She’d use claws, because that’s what one did with prey.
Kearen either was disinterested, “Harrumph, how undignified!” or she was Shreds McClawtastic, “I’ll show that evil movey thingy!”

local officials couldn’t figure it out.

I am NOT surprised!

here locally there were city approved plans...to allow an ILLEGAL day worker...hiring hall.

it went down to defeat eventually....

NY here.
Bloombug made them a protected class in the city.
And ICE was instructed not to do their job.
SOoooo, everything has been swimmingly well since then.
Anytime an illegal does something, there is a rush to keep it out of the news.
Since ICE was instructed to not do the “immigration” portion of their name, news on illegals doing anything has vanished.
Amazing.

Back around the "turn of the century" the first Illegals "rights" march...that Im aware of in the entire Nation occured in San Rafael CA.

Everyone ..was dressed identially in blue jeans and white t shirts...

It seemed like a very well planned vangaurd TEST of the local population to see what we would put up with! I have One photo of same somewhere.

The marchers were deeply offended by something then governor Pete Wilson had said and were chanting..."Tell Wilson Hes a Liar we'll Set Your Ass on FIre"as they marched through the smallish downtown area.

Talk about in your face stupidity.
