In his press conference on December 20th, President Obama urged the House of Representatives to support the Senates immigration bill, which passed 68-32 in late June. Among the concerns cited by Americans who oppose reform are that immigrants will take their jobs, drive down wages, increase criminal activity, burden the welfare system, and reshape the cultural dynamic of the country. These concerns are mostly ill-founded. The legitimate concerns have real solutions, and a more open immigration policy will be a net benefit for all Americans...
Highlights from Article:
- A 2013 study by the American Action Forum states that "immigration reform can raise population growth, labor force growth, and thus growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
- In 2013 the Bipartisan Policy Center came to similar conclusions. It makes the prediction that current provisions, as included in the Senate Bill, would raise GDP 4.8 percent over twenty years.
- According to the Immigration Policy Center, immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 39 (which constitute the greatest portion of the prison population) are five times less likely to be incarcerated than are natives.
- A 2011 survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 92 percent of second generation and 96 percent of third generation Hispanics speak English proficiently.
- A 2010 Gallup poll revealed that Hispanics attend church services more often than non-Hispanic whites.
- Since an influx of immigrants means an expansion of the labor supply, many assert that the result will be less jobs and lower wages. However, as asserted by Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, The number of jobs in the United States is not static. Its fluid, which is how we want it to be.

Flying over Seoul (or generic BIG CITY) at night in a thunderstorm, then blinds/curtains close unexpectedly and we are in a small dark apartment.
We can only see a woman sitting on a bed, She is sad. She is waiting for someone who isn’t going to come. She even peeks out the door into the corridor but nobody is there. She is sad, crying, mad, then determined. He is with “her”. She knows it.
Lightening flashes.... the dark areas of the room light up for an instant.... it’s full of ninja’s or are they something else?
She grabs her coat and umbrella and goes out. The roads and sidewalks are empty, she crosses a wide road and the lights blink off but the lightening flashes and the ninja’s or whatever they are, they are all around her.
She bangs on the door of another apartment/hotel room. It opens and she barges in. Yep, he is there and the other woman is inside too. They do not seem surprised or alarmed to see her. As if she has done this before a lot. They broke up a long time ago. To help calm her down he takes her to sit near the big window, almost floor to ceiling. He opens it to let in some cool air. He tries to explain again that it’s all in her head. But she gets up and kicks him out the window and then the other woman screams and rushes over and they go out together.
But she hangs there and the other woman holds her foot for a moment, lightening flashes and we see the upset woman is being held up by ninjas and the “other woman” sees it to but she is falling.
She walks out of the building, there is a crowd gathered, sirens are coming closer. She gets on a bus as lights flash behind her.

Somewhere over a desert a one-engine prop plane is in trouble. The pilot manages to land in the middle of nowhere, but he holding his chest. A woman pulls him out. It’s her.
Later he is being nursed back to health, he reaches out and holds her hand, he wears a Rolex. She gets a glint in her eye. Thunder sounds....
Brilliant! Our dentist will call tomorrow to reschedule Pat and Elen. I can make an appointment for Tom, too.
