The democrat solution. Would you still say that if Michigan joined us?
Friend, the productive states have to do something to stop the inevitable march toward absolute tyranny, or we'll all be lost. What better way, than to sever our political ties with the parasite states, then give them time for starvation to bring them to their senses?
Separation would likely be an impermanent state. Eventually, the blue states would come begging for reunification, and when we agreed, it would be on our terms.
That's what I foresee.

Well, do it soon. I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan. The NFL refuses to have foreign teams, so we would clinch the division if Texas left.

Chuckle. Rumors say Perry is trying to expand medicaid though.

The really elegant part of the solution is that a 49-star U.S. flag is already legal-eagle. After Alaska joined the Union, our flag had 49 stars (I just got my example by express package delivery about a month ago) for about eight months, until Hawaii came in.
Seven rows of seven stars, offset. Looks very similar to the 50-star flag.

In 2004 Michigan (As well as several other states)liberals were throwing a tantrum and petitioning then Governor Granholm to secede from “Bushlandia”. Even she blew them off.
Its not happening Deal with it.

As a Texan, my opinion is that all freedom loving states should tell the unconstitutional federalis....GF yourselves..
It is our RIGHT to be free. We need no permission, nor should we ask permission.

Let me tell you what is coming. After the sacrifice of countless millions of treasure and hundreds of thousands of lives, you may win Southern independence if God be not against you, but I doubt it. I tell you that, while I believe with you in the doctrine of states rights, the North is determined to preserve this Union. They are not a fiery, impulsive people as you are, for they live in colder climates. But when they begin to move in a given direction, they move with the steady momentum and perseverance of a mighty avalanche; and what I fear is, they will overwhelm the South.

Its not happening Deal with it. Your Republic of Texas passport application has been delayed due to spurious and demeaning comments you posted about Texas secession on 11 December 2013.
Should you choose to post a full retraction and heartfelt apology, your application will be reconsidered.
Thank you,

Good luck at getting the constitutional amendment necessary for that, or the permission of the rest of the country expressed in federal legislation. Don't need either.
Secession by state action is not valid, as the separation would generate many controversies .....
Tough noogies. This is what happens when you urinate on people and brown them off.
Texas v. White
Funny thing about Supreme Court decisions ..... they fall a long way short of rescripts from God, especially when they're cobbled up for obvious political purposes by a Court packed with political hacks, which Salmon P. Chase certainly was. He was put on the Court to protect Lincoln from the implications of a Court finding that Lincoln's executive actions in prosecuting the Civil War (very often taken in recess) were a) overreached and b) unconstitutional (like suspending habeas corpus on a pretense of authority, which was instead an invasion of a constitutional power of the Congress only).
Any Court holding can be set aside by the next Court to consider the matter. Thus Jefferson Davis and many other constitutional scholars, which of course excludes actors like the Impostor in the White House.
