I no longer buy that liberalism, progressivism or any of the leftist nonsense was ever idealistc or utopian. It’s just the snake oil they peddle to get people to forfeit their liberty and property. Stalin and Lenin never intended to bring peace and prosperity to their citizens, nor did Marx or Mugabee, or Castro or our own dear leader.
It’s the fairy tale they recite ad nauseum. It’s the sheepskin they wear to calm those they wish to subjugate. We conservatives really need to stop romanticizing the left as though their rhetoric is sincere.
It is not. It never was and never will be. As long as conservatives continue to believe them rather than their own observations, we will lose. Being unwilling to call a liar a liar gives the liar license to lie and complete credibility.
There are the "Buyers" of utopia, and there are the "Sellers".
There's a reason so many buy into this nonsense. A fundamental difference in their character that makes them susceptible vs. a conservative character.
Liberal "buyers" IMHO, are fundamentally insecure. There is no "Rock" at the foundation of their belief system. Their foundation is "relative", uncertainty is promoted and they are left to be exploited by the Sellers.
This piece was brilliant. It is written through the eyes of the sheeple, this is why they march in lock step with every hope and change hustler that comes along. Conservatives don’t fall for this nonsense but the “masses” do.
This describes my former neighbor to a T. He just thought Obama cared so much that he would make everything right in the world. Of course I told him it was all a dream but he fell for it, the gullible do, that is why it keeps coming back, embodied by a new leftist.
In order for us to win we have to inform the gullible that utopia is not attainable on earth and anyone telling you it is only wants your wallet.
