I don’t think younger generations care enough to have open rebellion. Sure, they criticize, make fun of, and protest what they are against, but that is much different than participating in open war. At the end of the day, they want to go back home, relax, and watch Netflix. Or go to a bar and....
Isn’t there some Roman saying about giving the people games and you can do whatever you want. It is sounding truer all the time.

“Bread and circuses” is a form of popular appeasement for the masses.

In our case of recent years, the “dumb asses.”

The poet Juvenal wrote in A.D. 100 about the decline of the Roman Republic from an aware citizenry that granted high office & military command to those deemed worthy, to a dependent mass interested only in “panem et circenses” (bread and circuses) and indifferent to most all else.
