It may seem trite to rehearse the big picture, but all too many people have an idea of a God who is frowning in a corner and throwing dice to see who He is reluctantly going to let be lucky.
When rather, He is insisting on blessing a sad humanity which is all too busily engaged in refusing the blessings (due to that dip into the devil that dates from the Garden). Sometimes it needs most of a lifetime of suffering to learn blessedness (but when the lesson is learned, the result will be extraordinarily stunning).
Sometimes shake-ups need to happen in this picture. And so God arranges them. We see our nearness to eternity in such moments.
Romans 5:10.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
