With her high risk plan what would she have done had she got cancer or had a severe accident of some sort? She was rolling the dice with her “high risk high yield” plan.

The money she would pay in under ACA that she didn’t use would go to people suffering catastrophic a illness and/or accident. That is how insurance has always worked. What insurance hasn’t always paid for is the diddly stuff. Look how much car prices have sent up as warranties got better and better. People used to pay for repairs out of pocket - same with basic medical expenses.

I remember when our state government mandates that our insurance pay for chiropractors - how could have anyone expected the premiums to not go up? Government mandates HC insurance cover more and more, people expect that, well premiums are going to go up.

That’s exactly how it’s supposed to work. When you get the oil changed on your car, you don’t turn in the bill to your auto insurance carrier. It’s a routine cost. Pay it.
