The C96 "Broom-Handle" Mauser was manufactured in 7.62mm, 9mm Luger, &.45 ACP. The lions share of the .45 models were sold for export to the Nationalist Chinese Army for use against Mao's guerrilla army during the Chinese communist revolutionary war.
All three calibers were loaded into fixed magazines from stripper clips (also capable of one at a time if no clips were available) on appropriately chambered weapons. All three versions held ten rounds except a Spanish version which was full auto and was provided with an extension to the fixed magazine that replaced the follower, spring and floor plate with a kludge magazine extension that increased the cartridge load to twenty, also loaded from "clips".
