Hitler basically came into power because of the economic crisis in Germany. The kind of crisis where people are open to the promises of Communists and/or Nazis. They were desperate to try anything, and Hitler promised to fix it.
Communists and national socialists competing for the same hearts and minds. Its why the Reichstag fire was blamed on the communists.
Hitler was an expert at capitalizing on crisis.
