I would simply be amiss if I didn't write about this news. Remember how we have been informed by the scientific community that global warming is on the march and how it is all our fault? Remember the claims they have made that the Arctic could experience an ice-free summer in 2013? As it turns out, that hasn't happened. In fact, quite the opposite has taken place. Instead of the ice receding, it has gained ground (or would that be water) in 2013. This comes to us from The Daily Mail, via Hot Air.
A chilly Arctic summer has left nearly a million more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year an increase of 60 per cent. Here's an image to show you the difference between 2012 and 2013.The rebound from 2012s record low comes six years after the BBC reported that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.
Instead, days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russias northern shores.
As you can see, there has been quite the change from 2012 to 2013. As one commenter pointed out on the Hot Air post, this isn't so much drastic change, as it is the natural ebb and flow of the Earth's weather patterns. But, not to be outdone, some climate scientists are now claiming we are about to enter into a period that may result in another ice age. These people really do go from one extreme to another.
Once again, we see the science of global warming on display for what it really is. It isn't real science, but more so a religion that is aimed at gathering all the money it can pull in. For further research, of course. I know this isn't Syria or Iran, or any of the other trouble spots in the world, but it is worth writing about. Anytime this global warming junk science is laid bare, it needs to be reported. For what it's worth, I'm sure the polar bears are happy.
How foolish is all this talk about climate change and global warming? It is foolish enough that some people really believed the Arctic was going to be free of ice in the summer of 2013. So much so, that some mariners were talking about sailing the Northwest Passage. In case you are wondering, there are over 20 yachts stuck in the ice, trying to sail from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans. The Arctic ice has gotten its revenge.
Many moons ago in SW Ohio where my keyboard resides, the land was covered by a 2-mile thick glacier that eventually melted back to the Arctic.
Enviro-kooks can never answer how the temps became so hot to achieve that melting since evil humans & SUVs were not on the planet at the time.
ps...of course, the answer is solar.
Climate change. Happens all the time.
This will kill the polar bears.
Let’s raise taxes!
Yes. And the only way to fix it is to transfer large amounts of money to AlGore, and governing bodies like the UN.
It's for the children, you know.
So 920,000 miles^2 of ice, is a fairly good-sized ice-cube. The size of about everything east of the Mississippi, plus or minus a bit.
Trivia, I know. But it puts the "Change" in perspective.
That’s the argument I use with the enviro-morons all the time. I tell them the climate is constantly changing and will be constantly changing until the end of time when Jesus returns—that really gets their knickers in a twist. How else to explain the fact that sea fossils have been discovered in the Grand Canyon and other arid places? They usually don’t have a response to that because the public schools haven’t taught them these “inconvenient truths.”
Agreed
Environmental wackos, usually leftist, can’t get their minds around the fact that the Sun isn’t a constant. It’s energy output cycles over long periods and has predictable sub patterns or cycles.
They really must think that it never changes and puts out the same energy all the time.
