Hummingbirds!

Alas, all our hummingbirds have departed for areas of more abundant glowbull warmthing.. Which probably is a good thing for them since the National Weatherpeople have caused my alerterlike icon to display a red exclamation point and tell me:
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NEW YORK HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 9 AM EDT THURSDAY.
* LOCATIONS...ORANGE COUNTY IN SOUTHEAST NEW YORK.
* HAZARDS...FREEZE CONDITIONS.
* TEMPERATURES...AROUND FREEZING.
* TIMING...LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY THURSDAY MORNING.
* IMPACTS...CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION COULD BE KILLED IF LEFT UNCOVERED OR UNPROTECTED...PUTTING AN END TO THE GROWING SEASON.

Our hummingbirds have flown south, too, although they hung around the Scarlet Creepers as long as possible. It’s supposed to freeze here Friday night, while DP is camp with James and Vlad, *sznicker*.

I was thinking how much work you put into the coloring...and wonder if mine got to you, yet?

LOTS of colors!

I just put a meatloaf in the oven and it is already smelling like I want to eat it! I was going to bake a potato but I’m out of sour cream and don’t want to go any place to get some. Maybe I’ll just slather it in butter. (I can’t remember when the last time was that I actually BAKED a potato. I got my first microwave in 1981, and have used it ever since.)

The stinking pigeons are mating again. DANG, I wish housing could do something about them. They are really getting bad.

When Igor and I were camphosts for the national forest service, we were at Madera Canyon south of Tucson. The mountains were a primary feeding and resting place for all sorts of migrating birds headed south, and drew about eight different types of hummingbirds. I wish I still had the bird book we used.
