The funny part about all of this is the fact that I’m a hawk. I completely agreed with the war in Afghanistan and never wavered on the Iraq war. I though then what I think now: Those were righteous efforts.

Well said. I felt much the same during the Iraq and Afghanistan interventions (which both had Congressional approval, international coalitions, and even UN backing, and, at least arguably, a threat to US national security.)
Hopefully you would feel the same way if there was a Republican in the White House. I certainly would...
