His training definitely kicked in. He used his non-dominant hand to grab the weapon which caused the perp to put the weapon down, likely as a defense mechanism. Because the perp was immediately distracted by the clerk’s action, his OODA loop was broken, giving the clerk the opportunity to grab his weapon and put it up in ready position.

This is textbook stuff here, and it’s indicative of the truth that just having a weapon doesn’t mean it has to be fired to deter a criminal.

Very true but, with the position the gun had on that human debris’ face, the clerk might have prevented a future robbery at his or another store with a less positive outcome.
