I just saw a fascinating show on Lafayette last night. I had no idea the contributions he made to American liberty, the French Revolution, and the 50 year anniversary celebration of the American Revolution. He was close to George Washington and even named his son "George Washington Lafayette". See Lafayette: The Lost Hero
