i suspect so - and i frankly hate these posts as they're kinda hit and run from the poster, with no followup, in essence using us as a vehicle to spread the story/posters name.

how is this different from blog pimping, regardless of the story line?

I can understand why JW might not want to post...you may recall that Tony Snow was a long time FReeper..there was a daily thread here for his radio show..the regulars called themselves "snowflakes"..he'd post to it often, as "tony snow" and occasionally read stuff from it on air. A day of so before he was announced as W's new press secretary..everything about him..all threads..replies...was scrubbed clean..you'd never have known hat he was ever here..

Since you know little-to-nothing about Jesse Watters...in your case, ignorance isn't bliss. It makes you needlessly grumpy. I'll bet the farm Watters is busier than you. I'll bet another farm that he works a lot harder exposing liberal hypocrisy than you do.

Every time someone famous, be they a politician or media member has posted on FR it has pretty much turned into a highly embarrassing monkey poo flinging contest.

I used to have a real problem with blog pimping and hit-n-run posters like this but how is this worse than FReepers giving hits to NYT, WaPo or Politico?

So the guy self promotes. He also confronts powerful people regularly and exposes them to unwanted truths and public scrutiny in front of hundreds of thousands of television viewers. This isn't some guy in Mom's basement changing a few words on someone else’s research and passing it off as his own to gain some Internet attention.
