Secession accomplishes this without the burden of dragging blue states along.

Why, exactly, does Texas need the federal government?

Even for Texas, secession will lead ultimately to economic if not social and military defeat. Secession indicates that Texans don’t care at all about restoring the Constitution or the Republic (not the Republic of Texas) but just about “quickly” their current lifestyle. Yes, restoring the Constitution and Republic may require sacrifices.

Secede and all you are left with is a probably hostile set of states to your north, east and west and a very hostile nation to the south with the intent to “reclaim” you.

The real cause is to remove the assholes who make those states blue and don’t for a minute believe that the majority of any of those states is blue. Redistricting/Gerrymandering has built enclaves that can elect democrats by way of a concentrated minority while the rest of the state is overall red.

Loyalists were a problem in the first AmRev but they were not solid enough anywhere to overcome the revolutionists.
