Results the same? Being fired or pursuing and failing to meet the talent’s requirements? I don’t think so.
A few months after what we assume were contract negotiations, Palin is back at Fox. On the other hand Paula Dean was fired, and that I’m betting is a whole different ball of wax in regards to her future.
I bet Paula Dean would not agree with you that she is in the same position with her network future, that Sarah Palin was 5 months ago with Fox.
Do you have a job there the next morning? No. Results, while worded differently, are essentially the same.
Of course, as you put it, 'pursuing and failing to meet the talent's requirements' will often result in non-renewal of a contract. That's often expressed in ratings (in my own case it came when a show I was doing was switched to another provider by a rights grantor, and they preferred their own talent).
You're right to note that they aren't worded the same. And yes, Palin is back at Fox. It's not unheard of in the broadcast industry for seemingly insurmountable obstacles to be overcome with some ease. But if you've been in the industry, you know that the terms mean the same thing. How you rebound determines the type of media personality you are.
You're also right to say that Paula Deen's broadcast future isn't as rosy as Sarah Palin's.
