You nailed it in spades. Time for the booty show, big boobs, big hair and Bermuda shorts and everybody smoked anywhere they wanted to. Lots of guy watching too because they wore pants that fit their bod instead of those baggy things they wear now. You certainly could tell the difference between guys and gals. Most women had longer hair before that but we who were 40 and over kept it well under control in a French twist or a BIG beehive. Only washed, combed and fixed it once a week and went to bed every night with it wrapped in toilet paper.
I know there had to be Black people at some of the malls but I don’t honestly ever remember hearing anyone speak anything but English until the mid ‘90’s - but we didn’t live on either coast so maybe that’s why.
