What do you know about this organization that gives you “little doubt that this is a scam?
I went to the site linked by Seizethecarp, and after reading their mission statement and seeing how it is set up, it seems like a good idea to me. A tool to assist law enforcement that is self-sustaining and doesn’t cost the taxpayers? Why not?
So what if people are making a living off of it?
Please explain why you call it a “scam”.
Res ipsa loquitur.
I heard Zullo's interview. He makes it clear that public funds cannot be used to investigate what is purported to be a monstrous crime. What would prevent Arpaio from using public funds to investigate a monstrous crime if he really believed that a monstrous crime has been committed? Of course, if Arpaio and his cronies do not believe that there is any birther crime needing investigation, then it would be a crime to waste public money pursuing a phony investigation and I would not expect Arpaio to commit that kind of crime. Arpaio and his cronies have decided that they cannot use public funds for this "investigation."
So what if people are making a living off of it?
Maybe Arpaio and all of his cronies should disclose what they are making off this scam and then people can arrive at their own conclusions as to the credibility of these folks.
If these folks believed that they were investigating a real crime of this magnitude, it would be a breach of Arpaio's public duty to not devote public funds to the investigation. However, if Arpaio and his cronies do not believe that this is a legitimate investigation of a real crime, then they should not use any public funds for a phony investigation. In other words, if this is a scam (as it appears to be), then Arpaio and his cronies should keep doing what they're doing (i.e., using private money only).
I hope you haven't actually sent them any of your money.
