On Friday night in Philadelphia, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin keynoted an event designed to honor Terri Schiavo and defend life, delivering a heartfelt speech at the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network's Award Gala in front of a packed ballroom of supporters in which she declared that nothing was more "important than defending the right to life."
The former Republican vice presidential nominee has been on the front lines defending the unborn as well as those in a persistent vegetative state. Terri Schiavo's case captured the nation's attention in 2005 when, despite the best efforts of her family, she was allowed to starve to death. Palin contended Terri did not die in vain.

This is an eternal shame for the US.
Every time I hear the name Jeb Bush I think of the Schiavo tragedy.
Jeb Bush tried to stop it.
“Jeb Bush tried to stop it.”
To his credit.
During the forced starvation I was at a local Republican HQ envelope stuffing and one old guy across the table was all for killing her off. Turns out that he had some kind of rare and “expensive” cancer for years that he had been getting treated for. I suggested that maybe it was time for us to stop paying for his treatment and let “nature” take its course.
Oh and they had to have a big discussion whether to use Ronald Reagan stamps in case someone was offended(we were only mailing to Repubs) I should have given up on the Republican party that day. I did come home and made a sign that saying they were “killing Terri” and planted it my front yard.
I remember this fiasco well. I got a speeding ticket on the day they started starving her.
Jeb Bush imo was a good governor of FL. He installed the castle doctrine for which I’m grateful.
He seemed to be on top of things i.e. when a hurricane was headed our way etc.... Things were good then.

Florida judge rejects state custody bid in Schiavo case

“TALLAHASSEE, Florida (CNN) — The state judge who ordered Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube removed last week rejected the latest effort by Florida officials to intervene in the brain-damaged woman’s case.
On Thursday, Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George Greer denied a petition of the state Department of Children and Families and Gov. Jeb Bush to take Schiavo into state custody.”
