Magazine Thongil Published ("Thongil" is reunification in Korean)

Pyongyang, April 5 (KCNA) -- The International United Confederation of Koreans published the March issue of Thongil, its monthly socio-political magazine.

The magazine gave a detailed account of the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un's inspection of units of the Korean People's Army illustrated with a photo of him inspecting the Wolnae Islet Defence Detachment, the forefront outpost in the biggest hotspot in the western sector of the front close to Paekryong Island and photos of him guiding a live shell firing drill to examine the real war fighting capabilities of artillery sub-units in the hotspots whose mission is to strike Taeyonphyong and Paekryong Islands.

It elaborated on "On greeting the 65th anniversary of the DPRK and the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War as a great festival of victors", the decision adopted at the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

It also carried official documents clarifying the principled stand of the DPRK, including a statement issued by the spokesman for the KPA Supreme Command titled "Final victory is in store for our army and people who turned out in defending the sovereignty", a statement by the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea titled "We will never miss the golden opportunity for great war for national reunification" and "Appeal to All Koreans" of the C.C., the Democratic Front for the Reunification of Korea titled "Let all Koreans in the north, south and abroad turn out as one in the patriotic sacred war of justice for reunification and resolutely shatter the war moves of provocateurs" to cope with the acute situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula.

It carried reports made by major news agencies and radios of Russia over the situation on the peninsula.

The magazine also introduced world news.

It's interesting that they claim victory in the "Fatherland Liberation War" although they controlled fewer square miles of territory in 1953 than they did before they launched the war--and they would have had no land at all if the Chinese had not come to their rescue.

I don't think China would allow a non-Communist regime allied to the US on its border although they might accept a less-extreme North Korea, maybe something on the order of Kadar's Hungary.

If someone like Obama had been President in 1950, the North Koreans would have succeeded in conquering the South. If they were to invade now, it would take Obama months to decide to do anything--it would be up to the South Koreans to defend themselves. The South Korean Army undoubtedly is more than a match for the North Korean Army, but what if the NK bombardment of Seoul has killed millions of civilians in the first day or two?
