As to property, recall that the big feminist objection to patriarchy (strong male leadership of home and natural family) was that it rendered all women into mere property. For a truly Marxist society to flourish, all traces of personal property must vanish. The family, no matter how we “bourgeois” try to make it sound good, is really the font of evil, because it promotes the outdated idea that people can own things. Hence the first major class war of the Marxist global revolution was the fight to liberate women. Abortion “rights” are but a footnote on that path to total “liberation.”
Nevertheless, marriage between heterosexual couples continued to reinforce the old ideas that people could belong to each other as opposed to the Collective. So marriage itself was the enemy. The sexual liberation of the sixties was a step in that direction.
Nevertheless, heterosexual romance and the impulse to natural reproductive behavior continued to keep alive the bourgeois notion of belonging to things grander than the almighty state. And here gay marriage would be the wedge used to deconstruct that last bastion against the transfer of all property ownership to the Collective.

So conservatives, GOP or otherwise, cannot let this push to androgeny succeed. It is giving the game to Marxism without a fight, and such deriliction of duty will unleash a ravaging evil in our country that will be impossible to resolve by mere avoidance, as we have done for so long. One side will win; the other side will lose. Period. Yes, it is unpopular to confront it now. It has probabaly never been harder to stand for what is right. But it is also more essential now than it has ever been. This is the time to stand. This is the hill worth dying on.
