Schumer losing Coburn, Manchin and Kirk? And none of them are up for reelection? No gun control this year.

Don't believe it!
“Democrats say background check records, whether kept by the individuals, manufacturers or others, are the only way to ensure that the checks are conducted for private sales. Coburn said such information could help create a federal registry of gun owners - something that is now illegal and the White House says would not happen.
Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Mark Kirk, R-Ill., also have been involved in the background check negotiations and said in a joint statement that they would continue looking for a compromise with other senators.” MyWay-Alan Fram
“. . . they would continue looking for a compromise with other senators.” is all Americans need to know about these crooks!
Trust, BUT verify

We simply want to make sure firearms do not end up in the hands of convicted criminals or people who are deemed mentally unstable by court ruling.Anyone too dangerous to own or possess a firearm is too dangerous to be running loose.
Either institutionalize or incarcerate them, and leave the rest of us alone.

We simply want to make sure firearms do not end up in the hands of convicted criminals or people who are deemed mentally unstable by court ruling. If it is just the buyer's criminal/mental background the government is interested in, why, as per Schumer and his 4473 form, do they need to know the guns serial number, the buyer's name, address, place and date of birth, height, weight, race, etc.?
"close loopholes in the current background check process"
A pantload. I was around when the 1968 Gun Control Act was debated and it was widely accepted then, even by the liberals, that the background check could easily morph into a registration list, so the private sales part was specifically mentioned as a relief valve to prevent this.
And isn't it strange that "loopholes" only appear in laws that hinder the liberals' agenda?
