So far, the Syrian opposition forces have not used a strategic weapon, which was captured by them in areas that have fallen under their control (including, at least, one warehouse with chemical weapons). The problem is that the "opposition" is not some kind of unified force.
Against the Assad regime at war groups, representing a moderate Sunni majority, receiving assistance from the West. Next to them are fighting the forces of the global jihad, which are now ready for a fight with Israel and "other infidels" - after getting rid of Assad. The combination of jihadists and missiles, "Earth-to-earth" - is really problematic.

The most dangerous, from the point of view of Israel, the Syrian arms supplies are M-600 missiles, which have a range of several hundred kilometers, and high accuracy. Israel has so far not had to deal with such weapons. Israel also fears that the "irresponsible" arms can reach and antiship missile "Yakhont" Russian-made missiles and "land-to-air» SA-17 (also made in Russia).
Missile "Yakhont" have a supersonic speed and can deliver precise strikes against targets in the open sea - within a radius of 300 kilometers. Such missiles could threaten the future of the Israeli gas fields in the Mediterranean Sea, as well as military and civilian courts. SA-17 missiles would harm Israel's superiority in the air.
However, it is unlikely the rebels would be interested to launch rockets at Israeli targets. Therefore, the main threat to Israel is still the possibility of transfer of strategic weapons in the hands of Syrian Hezbollah. Attack from the air, made in the past month (attributed to foreign sources of Israel) was designed to prevent this from happening.
What's next for Syria? Every day in this country will die an average of about one hundred people. Number of people killed in the civil war has already reached 50,000. The number of refugees exceeded one million. But the fighting is still no end in sight.
