In ours it's like several hundred M1 tanks, about twice that number in Bradley fighting vehicles, several thousand uparmored HUMVEEs, about 75 F-16s, about 500 howitzers and plenty of other seriously capable weapons systems.
Kind of puts a few thousand DHS para military response vehicles into perspective.
It's almost certain that we are going to see some serious civil unrest as the insane Obama borrow and spend binge winds down and the economy comes down off it's sugar high.
It's wise to be prepared, and these things could go a long way to keeping our system functioning, but the big issue is going to be who is driving those things and what are going to to be doing with them.
The job they are intended for is to suppress and disperse riots and other mass violence events like what was seen in a Chicago mall a few weeks ago. Nice to have around when the EBT cards bounce, which is only a matter of time when we are borrowing forty six cents of dollar the Government spends.
With the current administration and Napolitano at DHS, it is not unreasonable to assume that there is at least a realistic chance that when the EBT cards bounce, they may be crewed by previously unemployed urban youths with prior gang affiliations who's job it is to seize the “hoarded food and supplies from the greedy, bitter clingers, Tea Party activists, and Preppers who refuse to share their illegally hoarded stockpiles with the rest of their fellow Americans for the greater good. After all, these are the people who created the economic mess and are responsible for the hard times anyway”.
By the way, for those who care about such things, what the SWAT officer in the video calls the “observation port” on the top of the vehicle is actually where the 50 cal Ma Deuce machine gun or 7.62x51 chain gun mounts and the mounting system is still in place.
FWIW, I also get the heebee jeebees when I hear civilian LEOs refer to themselves as “operators” , which is an overtly military term that previously was reserved for the serious professionals in the Special Forces community, but has since been co opted by the Spec Op wanna bees and Storm Trooper would bees.
It's been so co opted by the wannbees that the true professionals are increasingly no longer refer to themselves as operators and are coming up with new terminology to refer to themselves.
Just sayin’
I'm predicting that the July 1st EBT recharge will not happen.
They want a "long hot summer" and they want to co-opt the 4th of July.
One of the things we might want to change is the use of the term ‘wannabees’ as many, if not most, LEOs SWAT teams are prior specops. Many LEO orgs practically mandate that.
