I watched the English version a couple of years ago - not sure which one I like better. Both stunning! i think the US one is more noire.

2nd season with Spacey is starting filming this month. Can’t wait!

Some other possibilities include game players (even Wii has Netflix and Amazon). A Sony Blu-Ray will set you back about $100 and has Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, Pandora, Vudu,Crackle and just about everything else mentioned on this thread...plus you can play DVDs, CDs and the Blu-Rays.

You have figured out how to beat the system, you should repost that advice occasionally.

Oh, I have lots of advice on how to beat the system. Top of the list is to avoid interest like the plague. The best credit score as far as your personal finances are concerned is a "0".

You get there by not paying for movies when you can get them free elsewhere and instead using that money to pay off your mortgage and other interest bearing debts.

Amazon has lost this customer. After seeing their new ad on tv - never again. The ad is for their Kindle. There’s a man and woman reading and the man asks the woman if he could buy her a drink. She declines saying her husband is bringing her one and the man says his “husband” is bringing him one, too. They turn and wave at their “husbands” and the “husbands” wave back.

Groan. Without regular TV, we don't see many of those kinds of ads. I fear that this will be the 2010s equivalent of the ads during the 70s when the smart-aleck dad gets shown up by his surprisingly clever or strong wife or child.

Is Foyle’s War good, Jim? I just finished with the outstanding Helen Mirren series Prime Suspect and joined Amazon Prime to have access to more British series.
Can you list a few of your faves? thx MM

"everybody" is watching movies on-line for free,

MY question is where they are watching them. Are they sitting in front of their computer screen?

We just watched the first episode and we will like it.

We have enjoyed the mysteries.

Midsomer Murders (humor and who done it - Tom Barnaby (John Nettles) is the best of an excellent group of detectives)
Poirot is addictive
Miss Marple
Zen
Sherlock
Inspector Lewis
Any of the Dickens tales
Walander is a tad depressing but good
A lot of documentaries (Empires, The Story of India, Monarcy)

Just started Foyle’s War and really like it.

Recovering from the intensity of Helen Mirren’s Prime Suspect series. I highly recommend it but it’s not for the faint of heart.
What an actress!

I liked Foyle’s War a lot.

A few others that I enjoyed were The Forsythe Saga, Island at War (it ended abruptly as if it should have continued, but for some reason did not - but still enjoyable-Anna from Downton is a lead character in it) and Lark Rise to Candleford (available at Amazon-Mr. Bates from DA is a lead character).

you know I didn’t think to try the channel. sometimes the networks will air their shows. I just don’t go to their websites.

I have a MAC Mini connected to my tv. With wireless keyboard and mouse/touchpad it becomes just a really big monitor. Most broadcast channels now stream the last few new episodes free. However, for some cable shows from TNT or USA Network, they require validation that you legitimately receive those channels via a subscriber service and authenticate you through your subscriber login ID. Even their iPad app requires such an authentication for viewing on the go.

So do your research before cutting the cord if shows you like are on cable channels as opposed to broadcast networks.
