Hugo Chavez is dead (? see internet photo)

Hugo Chavez is either dead, or on life support, but the world will remain in the dark for weeks to come. While the above photograph has probably been Photoshopped it has been making its rounds on the internet for the last few weeks. Until we hear from el Comandante himself the rumors will not be silenced, irregardless of what Venezuelan officials would lead us to believe.

Government officials are attempting to prepare the country for Chavez to govern from life support, or beyond the grave. In this attempt they may succeed – for a while. Preventing civil war is a more difficult prospect.

Venezuelan officials have convinced themselves that Chavez doesn’t need to be sworn in on Jan 10th if he’s not ready. He can come home whenever he likes, next week as required by law, or next month if he feels up to it. His old job will always be waiting for him.

How can we be sure of Chavez’s demise? Simple, the government is making an unconvincing argument that Chavez can still govern, while readying the country for an equally unconvincing face-off with the opposition on why they must once again change the Constitution. Screw uncomfortable details like the Constitution, when they aren’t tailored to meet Hugo Chavez’s needs.

He will be. As soon as he’s in the ground.

That is obviously a Photoshop. Good grief. Plus, Jan 10th has passed, he wasn’t sworn in because he was still in Cuba. What is the point?

Of course he is. I don’t speak ill of the deceased as it is no longer a part of my thought. Let God’s will be done.

From In The Shark Tank:

http://shark-tank.net/2013/03/01/breaking-chavez-on-death-bed-new-tumor-found/

BREAKING: Chavez On Death Bed, New Tumor Found
BY JORGE BONILLA

According to new reports out of Venezuela, President Hugo Chávez has retired to his retreat at La Orchila, where he will receive end-of-life care upon discovery that the cancer has now metastasized to his left lung.

Per Spain’s ABC -no relation to Disney-owned ABC News (my translation):

Several days ago, Hugo Chavez was transferred to the presidential retreat at La Orcila island, so he may spend the final stage of his illness in a family environment. The transfer from Hospital Militar was made on Friday, after doctors issued a negative evaluation of the most recent scan. (The scan) indicated that a rapidly-developing lung had already affected 35% of his left lung, according to sources who are in daily contact with caregivers.

Given this evidence, his stay at Hospital Militar -in which case he was only given palliative treatment anyway- became unnecessary and the choice was made (to transfer Chavez ) to a place away from Caracas where the family could remain at the patient’s side at all times, and (for caregivers) to be able to react to any situation at any time.

In 2011, Chavez ordered the installment of specialized-care equipment at La Orchila, located 160Km (or 99.5 miles) from Caracas, thus transforming the infirmary at the presidential residence.
The article goes on to state that Chavez was better able to conceal travel to La Orchila than to Cuba, which requires approval from the National Assembly.

This news breaks on the heels of incendiary statements made by former Panamanian Ambassador to the OAS Guillermo Cochez, that Chavez is already dead, had been in a persistent vegetative state since the end of last year, and that the Cubans dumped him on Venezuelan soil rather than have him die in Havana.

Nobody knows what is really going on in Caracas -where the regime has governed by autopen-signed decree since Chavez’ return to Cuba- but it looks like we are going to find out…and as on Election night, we’ll only know for sure when the tanks start rolling towards Miraflores Palace.

You can be sure when you see an extremely long line entering a cemetery in Venezuela ... that will be the line of well wishers to pi$$ on his grave.

He was not sworn in? He is like Obozo, “don’t need no stinkin Law”, He is above the law.

But soon, he will face a judgement that men cannot avoid. That will not be by Commie Law.

That’s the real reason Lenin was not buried but was embalmed and placed on public display in a sealed coffin.

He was not sworn in by the 10th, as required by the Constitution. They devalued their currency by 47 percent earlier this month while he was gone. If you are really interested in what is going on in Venezuela, check out The Devil’s Excrement. It’s in English. See February 23 post.

“Don’t insult a great man like Franco, who saved his country, by lumping him with Chavez.”

Yes, Franco was a great man and he loved Spain with all his heart. Franco saved Spain from the communists but not from himself, but Juan Carlos did.

After the Civil War in Spain and the period of WWII a democracy in Spain was totally impossible. Franco’s error was that after WWII he did not let true democracy happen in Spain. That held Spain back and made her a third world country for many years.

Franco selected a royal “Juan Carlos” to succeed him upon death as the King of Spain and with the power of a dictator. Juan Carlos upon achieving power after Franco’s death established democracy as quickly as possible. This is exactly the opposite of what Franco had planned.

The action of Juan Carlos precipitated a Coup-de-Tat against him. This is where the true greatness of Juan Carlos occurred. Juan Carlos made a speech directed at the generals behind the coup. He demanded that they halt and stop their coup. The Generals had the weapons but Juan Carlos had the people. These Generals were young men during the civil war. They remembered the horror of that civil war and did not want to see it again. They like Franco, and Jaun Carlos loved Spain more than power. They stepped back.
When Juan Carlos went into the Spanish Parliament and ordered the Generals to allow freedom in Spain he was risking his life.

Franco was flawed but truly a great man that loved Spain.
Juan Carlos is a great man that loves Spain.
The Generals are also truly great men and very flawed. However, their love of Spain was far greater than their many flaws.

Spain is blessed to have had Franco, Juan Carlos and the Generals. If they all did not love Spain it would have ended very very very badly.

I do not know if you have been to Spain but it is a lovely nation with very good people. When I and my wife go there the first thing we do is leave Madrid. We rent a car and go to the places that the Spanish go for vacation and pleasure. We both speak Spanish. Even if you do not speak Spanish, the locals will do their absolute best to make your stay a good stay.

Relative to Madrid, there are many great things to see and the Prado is a must. We leave Madrid because we just do not like being in a big city. There is nothing wrong with Madrid and the architecture of the buildings is magnificent.

ps
The reason that I wrote this note is you said “Franco was a great man.” Very few people know he is a great man and most think of Franco as evil. He was not evil.

I find it telling that where Franco is buried North of Madrid both sides that fought in the civil war are also buried in the same cemetery.
