I was doubly disappointed to find this Joaquin joker listed on the Nominating Committee “recommended list”.
The NRA has been signing up 8000-10000 new members daily since the beginning of the year. It's a level of activity that the organization wasn't prepared to handle.
I would throw in one caveat: safe storage and transportation are essential. In urban and even suburban areas people should have to store their explosive ordnance in a secure magazine or armory. Firemen responding to a call at someone's house should not have to worry about a house fire setting off several 155mm rounds. Likewise, if you choose to bear your M777 behind your SUV on a public highway you should have to have insurance for that.
That bothered me greatly as well. I suspect it is his ‘celebrity’ status that caused them to overlook his clear disdain for the real meaning of the Second Amendment. If we succeed in getting rid of him, it will send a clear message to the NRA leadership that his kind of ‘hunters and skeet shooters only’ mentality is not what we, the members, want!
