unfortunately, the bad guys don’t just kill other bad guys. We recently attended services for a local business owner who was shot dead by three punks as he closed up shop for the day. They thought he would be walking out with the day’s receipts. He didn’t. They demanded the money regardless. When he couldn’t comply, they killed him. I think one of them is still at large. His story is not an anomaly. Another man was recently stabbed to death in front of a local hospital (with a screwdriver I believe) in a botched mugging. The mugger got a few dollars. Recently my city mourned another business owner who ran a convenience store a few blocks from where I now sit. He was murdered for the cash in the register. I am an ER nurse. I meet all kinds of good guy victims. Met one a while back that was beaten severely. He was beaten severely. As I recall, the perp actually stepped on his chest as he walked out the door with the cash register. The victim had multiple facial bone fractures. These are all black on white crime stories btw and I could tell you many many more.

You’re right of course.

But most people DO avoid those areas and then forget about them. News about violence there is like when I hear about riots in Egypt. I just remind myself to NEVER go there and forget about it.

In the inner cities, you have a lot of feral humans running around. Physical humans, but morally empty or bad. I favor ISSUING handguns to everyone in those parts of the city and letting them deal with the problem, but that isn’t likely to happen in Chicago or Detroit...
