RALEIGH Many North Carolina gun owners and gun enthusiasts are worried that new gun proposals that go far beyond an assault rifle ban would make many of the otherwise law abiding 80 million Americans who are gun owners into criminals if they do not register their weapons with federal authorities.
National and international media reports have stated that the White House under a committee led by Vice President Joe Biden is going to seek sweeping changes in how guns are registered, sold, and taxed in the wake of the Newton, Connecticut school shooting.
Under the potential proposals which have yet to be officially announced, all firearms would be required to be registered in a national database that would keep track of all guns and who owns them. The database would include all new guns but also would include all guns that have been sold in the past, as there would be no grandfather clause in the new proposals.
In addition, one gun shop operator told the Telegram that the proposals could basically treat all firearms as class three weapons.
This would mean that they would be tracked in a national database, that there would be a substantial tax on the guns, and that they could not be passed from generation to generation as they would be destroyed upon the death of the registered owner. In addition, it would be a federal crime to transfer the guns or even to own them without having them registered, even if they were legally obtained...

Won’t happen.
Unless we let it.

We need a 5 Million Gun Owner march asap on DC
Hows January 20th sound?
The idiot left would just love a national gun registration database, wouldn’t they. That way, instead of just releasing all of the names and addresses from one city or one county or one state, they could publish a nationwide list of gun owners in order to endanger and “shame” us all.
Screw that! I trust they know where they can shove that national gun registry.
Bwhaaa haaa haa! Could you imagine the huge percentage that would turn up "missing" right after the owners death?? What fools these people are, they don't even understand human nature!
A “good friend of mine” has seven weapons. The last of these was purchased in 1958. Somehow, I don’t think Obama will be able to find out about these. I wonder how many hundred million more weapons also fit into this category?
It’s “Title II” not Class III.
I formed several gun trusts last year just for this eventuality.
In my area of rural West Virginia it would be much easier to print a list of those who don't own guns (but maybe it would shame them into buying one).
If they start going to peoples houses who haven’t complied, I was just wondering how many people there are out there, who might be pretty good at setting up lethal booby traps and trip wires. Does anyone think many would resort to that? I wonder.
Apparently, BrainDamage Biden just spouted this off on the radio in the last couple of hours...
They want everyone on the criminal list because it gives them great power to selectively enforce the laws against those viewed as requiring a cage. Step out of line, and the man comes and takes you away.
Would that make us easier to round up? As hard as it is (& expensive) to travel to a protest far away, I’ve often thought that people should line the nearest main street to their home or work at a given time, on a given day- enough so the local media would have to cover it, as a display of support or dissent on a given issue. Not as a protest per se, & only with the occasional signage to clarify the position, but as an unspinnable (or corruptible) visible accounting.
It’s sad that it’s come to this, but visible physical presence is about the only way the truth could be seen. Our media, polls, & even elections, lie way too often.
Wow, pissin on the 2nd and the 5th.
We need to move on this fast.
That’s what they do. They pass laws that “make” legal behavior illegal, then they arrest the honest, law-abiding people and crow that they have solved the problem.
Meanwhile, they deliberately and intentionally leave illegal guns in the hands of the violent criminals who have more rights than the honest people.
How many people have been convicted for having a gun in their airline baggage which they genuinely forgot about?
