Spray your newly-dug hole with water to conceal the recently disturbed soil. The hajis did that in Iraq and that made it practically impossible to see if/where any holes had been dug.

Be sure to save the surface soil separately from the rest, and return it to the surface when you fill the hole. Soil comes in layers; the subsurface layers can be very different from the surface. Next time you plant a tree, install a fence post, etc. take a good look.
