If he thinks that kind of grandstanding is objectionable and disrespectful to those who were killed, he doesn't get to slam others for doing that and then do it himself.
This is pretty typical for the Internet: people get angry and indignant about something and by the time they're done they've gone and done the same thing that they were up in arms about.
But the tragedy or catastrophe -- 26 dead people, 22 of them children -- is bigger than anybody's two-bit agenda. He recognizes that, but can't help exploiting the horror in just that way for political gain.
If you want to honor those kids, don't use them to promote a political agenda. At least not now. It's too soon.
And he shouldn't wrap himself in the flag to distinguish himself from those on the other side who are doing the same kind of thing. That's also not showing respect either to the flag or to the children.
