Big Difference. Reagan was fearless. He would take on liberal/progressives head on. Could not IMAGINE him allowing the first twirp to slide on benghazi.

Actually the media and Obama seemed to love the incompetent Romney during the primaries.

The left wanted him as the nominee.

His margin came from "Reagan democrats," basically blue collar voters who liked him personally even though they disagreed with his policies.

I think they liked his policies, Reagan's social conservatism and strong national defense positions, and his aggressive posture against the Soviet Union all over the world, and his patriotism and raw Americanism, really jazzed the blue collar voters.

Romney lost in large part because he came across as a rich guy who didn’t understand being poor. His economic idea was to cut taxes on the rich, which I agree with as economic policy but which needs to be defended.

He lost because Republicans ask for votes 6 weeks out from an election, and don’t want to do the 4 years of voter education needed to convince a poor person to vote to give wealthier people tax cuts. It is tough enough to swim upstream. It is even tougher if you don’t start early...

Dear Ann: you got your guy as the Republican nominee. He lost. Yeah, we know.....”The sun was in his eyes! The refs were against him! The rims were loose!” We know all the excuses. He lost. You supported a loser. So did I. The difference, I guess, is that I’m willing to be honest about it. Go write another book.

I also think by any standard or your politics, Mitt Romney is a good decent man and half this country did not vote for the only good decent man running - that is more troubling.

People don't like Romney because they sense that he isn't a good and decent man, that of course he is clean and well bred, but that he is intensely self absorbed and focused on his own ego driven career trajectory, and that he doesn't even see regular Americans.

Romney's gaffe's show someone out of touch, and who mocks working Americans, he thinks we are killers and nut cases, “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense,” Romney said. “They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

While soft spoken and pleasing in demeanor, his words are cold, ruthless, while he sounds sincere and caring in tone, *“My position has been the same throughout my political career, and it goes back to the days of 1970,” he said. “There was a woman who was running for political office, U.S. Senate. She took a very bold and courageous stand in 1970, and that was in a conservative state. That was that a woman should have the right to make her own choice as to whether or not to have an abortion. Her name was Lenore Romney, she was my mom. Even though she lost, she established a record of courage in that regard.”*

Mitt's lies are legendary, sometimes brutal, and always self serving“Reagan was adamantly pro-choice”, “My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit.”", "life-long hunter", "longed to serve in Vietnam".

Romney's inner passions are evil, that is what drives him as a cult leader, and what led him to formally leave the republican party and become dedicated to the democrat party and Planned Parenthood, and abortion, anti-Reaganism, homosexualizing the Boy Scouts and the military, there is darkness inside of that smooth veneer, and voters sense it.

Ann hides the important fact, that in 1980 the famously known right winger Reagan, was trying to convince America that he was safe to vote for, he had to soften his image to get into the presidency.

Romney was famous as a lefty, the anti-Reagan, whose place in political history will be as a failed one term governor who gave the nation Romneycare and gay marriage.

Reagan was like Hercules trying to hide his muscles to not scare the voters, Romney was like PeeWee Herman wearing a blow up suit, to pretend that he had them.

After 20 years of campaigning, spending 55 million of his own dollars, breaking spending records in all of his races, and a single victory, and a single term in office which he left with 34% approval.

To this day, no one really knows what his core beliefs are or why Romney was obsessed with being president.

The thinking people will go back to the 59 years before he started his presidential campaign, to find out who he was, and that is a very ugly political life to look at.

“Reaganesque potential? That is ridiculous.

This is 2012, Romney has run for office for 20 years, he has run for president twice, he even has a term as a lefty governor, the man is 65 years old.

There is nothing Reaganesque hiding inside of that old guy, just waiting for the chance to come out.

His economic idea was to cut taxes on the rich, which I agree with as economic policy but which needs to be defended.

If government employee/contractor/vendor/welfare spending is not cut (welfare is almost equal to the entire deficit), then tax policy changes will not help anything.

If the changes result in less revenue, the deficit grows faster.

If the changes result in more revenue, it's just spent anyway.

Back during Reagan's terms, the relative size of government debt to Gross Domestict Product was about 40%. Now it's over 100%. The prosperity boost that lower taxes provided to the economy back then was not overshadowed by a Federal government that was insolvent on such a grand scale as it is today.

IMHO, the only way out is radical reduction of goverernment agencies. Social Security and Medicare need not be affected at all to fix this, nor should they be for those at or close to retirement. For those younger than that, they should be given the option to not participate in the program and it should be phased out for younger citizens over decades.

His margin came from "Reagan democrats," basically blue collar voters who liked him personally even though they disagreed with his policies disagreed with his fiscal policies while agreeing with his social polices.

Fixed it for you.

These Reagan democrats were just as pro life as Reagan and recognized that their party had abandoned the unborn. They were, however, liberal democrats but Reagan's personal likability allowed them to realize they had a lot in common with him. It was part of Reagan's big tent ideology -- you did not have to compromise your principles to get the people of the other party who agree with you to join you.

Reagan was right, but unfortunately, today the GOPe wants you believe that big tent means abandoning your beliefs to let everyone in, whether they agree with your principles or not. Reagan was not part of this big mushy middle.

Have you ever noticed that most of the ‘Conservative’ punditry hails out of the liberal NE... and primarily New York City and Washington DC?

Nuff said.

Ann Coulter is to Conservatism what Donald Trump is to hairstyling...

Good to see finally that Levin is catching on.....

When Ann Coulter started attacking Obama Eligibility people....Birthers....knew right there and then she was just another PhonyCon helping Obama win another term...and she was one of the most virulent about it. Coulter pretty much helped Obama get re-elected.

All these PhonyCon Liberals telling Real Conservatives on “how to win elections” would be hilarious if it did not mean another Dem as President in 2016

Democrat voter fraud was the problem. And so was the media which is the propaganda arm of the democrats creating a false reality we all live in.

Obama got 99% even 100% of the vote in many districts of Cleveland Ohio, Philadelphia and other cities. These numbers prove there was voter fraud. There is no way these idiots could vote 99% even if they all really wanted to as the are so idiotic that they would press the wrong button at least for a few % points .These swung the battleground states. Also all those countless reports of fraud, the voting computer machines etc.. Saddam Hussein didn't do this good in elections. Also a lot of districts and counties had more votes than registered voters etc.

It worries me that even after the Romney disaster, you still fight to promote him and his liberalism.

You could switch over to helping us avoid any Romneys in the future.

Romney was a problem but not “the problem”. As you correctly point out there is an establishemnt that does not want to rock the boat. They are completely happy to be the minority party. They don’t want to lead, because the risks of fixing the present mess are profound.

They mouth the requisite platitudes about the problem, yet are not willing to do anything to substantively address it, figuring that it’s better to let it collapse and attempt take control once it does.

The problem is that that the democRATS are playing Cloward-Piven for their Bolshevik revolution, while the republican establishment is trying to pick up the mess after the collapse thinking that they can re-establish the government in their vision.

Unfortunately the RATS are playing for keeps.
