The post-storm housing a refugee camp on the grounds of the Monmouth Park racetrack is in lockdown, with security guards at every door, including the showers.
No one is allowed to go anywhere without showing their I.D. Even to use the bathroom, you have to show your badge, said Amber Decamp, a 22-year-old whose rental was washed away in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
The mini city has no cigarettes, no books, no magazines, no board games, no TVs, and no newspapers or radios. On Friday night, in front of the mess hall, which was serving fried chicken and out-of-the-box, just-add-water potatoes, a child was dancing and dancing to nothing. Were starting to lose it, said Decamp. But we have nowhere else to go.

I’ve been in a scif that only opens its doors at certain times of the day. You have to use the bathroom at that time otherwise your SOL.
LOL!! I'm willing to bet that a majority of people seeing your comment wouldn't even know what a 'scif' was. I, however, do. So, then, my question would be, how did *you* know that I would know such a thing?
the infowarrior
Instead of saying the acronym , a scif is a secure closed facility. Like a prison but you can make coffee in there . It’s compartmented to restrict further access to sensitive information. Such as intelligence information.
Not necessarily top secret.
Not sure how to look at it - I tend to agree with your thought that it’s practice for large-scale control, but I also see where they need to enforce safety standards so it doesn’t turn into an OWS type event.
I ditto that bull shit.
I ditto that bull shit.
I was merely answering the fellow’s question as to how I would feed all these refugees.
“Well, Raylan, the food is not as advertised, and there was no mint on my pillow. I don’t believe I’ll be visiting this hotel again” - Boyd
I used to work detainee-ops overseas, so I'm familiar with guards at the entrance. It may be alarmist/overblown but the article says "under lockdown" ,which implies to me that they are not free to leave.
So...who are the crazy ones now?
The fault belong with the State of Louisiana
Namely democrat governor Blanco. I am sick of democrats not owning anything. Blanco owned Katrina and her side kick Democrat Mary Landrieu who prostituted her self and her state by accepting money for her vote on Obamacare. Luckily one is out and we are working on removing the other.
Aye.....therein lies the rub. For them. The choice will be easy for me.
What difference does that make? Since it is not a FEMA camp, does that mean you approve of its existence and its use?
“You DO have to show ID to take a crap”
I guess they needed a way to know who last left the toilet seat up!
Uh, no, and my comments have been quite clear that there are serious problems with this camp and how it is blocking people from getting calls or emails out about how bad it is. However, yelling at FEMA for what the State of New Jersey is doing in this camp is uninformed. This is Christie’s problem and queries need to be raised to Fatboy instead - just as most of the problems in Louisiana after Katrina were the fault of Blanco and Nagin and their underlings.
This is a temporary facility in a horse racetrack parking lot.
Did you even bother reading up on this before leaping to your pre-ordained conclusions?
SHEER BOREDOM!!!
Funny thing is, both actions are an attempt to get rid of a PoS.
