How can that apply to IOWA?
What I always heard is they vote democrat because they are almost completely reliant of agriculture subsidies. But that never made much sense to me considering that dark red states like Kansas and Nebraska are just as reliant.
Ethanol? Are they trying to protect their subsidies?
Farmers are notorious for embracing Freebies. That and they’re drinking out of the same aquafer as Minnesota.

I dont get it either. i went to college in IA, waaaay out in the northeast corner, still very liberal in the middle of the farm lands.

Rural areas are generally much more conservative.
Demographically the population has left rural areas and concentrated in urban areas.
