The Washington Times, Bill Gertz; September 4, 2011
Jihadists among the Libyan rebels revealed plans last week on the Internet to subvert the post-Moammar Gadhafi government and create an Islamist state, according to U.S. intelligence agencies.
Libya: Now What? New American; Thursday, 10 November 2011Gadhafi Becomes the Enemy
The evidence favors Gadhafis version of events. Of course, Gadhafis past record of human rights abuses does make his claims suspect, to say the least. But how about the veracity of the rebels? As The New American reported early on, numerous current and former al-Qaeda leaders as well as other affiliated extremists who boasted of having battled U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan were largely leading the rebellion. And they had been armed and trained by foreign powers including the U.S. government well before the international community officially intervened.
Al-Qaeda & Co. Become Allies
As Gadhafi became public enemy number one, other veteran foes of the U.S. government suddenly went from dangerous terrorists to democratic freedom fighters. Most prominent among the terror groups that became Western allies was the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG).
According to a 2007 study entitled Al Qaidas Foreign Fighters in Iraq by the U.S. military, the organization had an increasingly cooperative relationship with al-Qaida, which culminated in the LIFG officially joining al-Qaida on November 3, 2007. Before that, former CIA boss George Tenet warned the U.S. Senate in 2004 that al-Qaeda-linked groups like the LIFG represented one of the most immediate threats to American security.
This is worth a separate topic, I have had on Fox News and heard nothing about fact that the surveillance tape was classified as TOP SECRET!!!!
Sooo..the infamous tapes that suddenly the State Dept said they didnt have anymore have now been classified by the lying, treasonous SOBs...
hogwash...if you see one of the posts here from a person who was on the ground there, Gaddafi was indeed mowing down many people..some were college people simply protecting! Fact.... not just terrorist. You are the one that is drinking kool-aid from Glen here. I like Glen, but you cannot seem to see the simple fact that those people wanted their nation back, and obviously the bad elements are mixed in too. Daaaa....we all knew that pretty quickly. That doesn’t negate the fact and videos clearly in the news of indeed mass slaughter of people PROTESTING, not fighting! That was all over the news! Sorry, you cannot seem to admit that Glen is a little whacky on this. Obama did not instigate this other than with his very real appeasing weakness. Very bad but not the sinister twist that Glen presented.
Your theory has a flaw. Protests and killing also occurred in Iran, but President Obama pointedly *did not* encourage them to rise up and overthrow their government.
The encouragement is quite selective.
I didn’t get my information from Glenn Beck. Haven’t watched him since he left Fox. You seem to be getting yours from MSNBC or the WH. Not that there is a difference.
well, that is what my post is about. We know the radicals have been involved in Libya...you have been trying to convince me of the obvious. But you cannot seem to understand that it is the weakness of liberals that instigates evil and that is what has happened.
Want to bet that the surveillane will show a still living ambassador being dragged out of the safe-house.
I do understand that. You don't seem to understand that that doesn't preclude aggressive action to promote their agenda. You are speaking of the inherent weakness of their ideology which has nothing at all to do with the strength of their actions. Which 0coward employed in Egypt and Libya and I have proved ten times over while you haven't put up one single point to defend your position.
