Hilarious and Brutal: Romney kills at the annual Alfred E. Smith Dinner

Tonight was the annual Alfred E. Smith Dinner where the candidates take a humorous break from the campaign trail. But I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised at how funny Romney was as he delivered line after line, mostly about the president. In fact he landed some pretty hard blows on the president, namely one where in using the Sesame Street reference he said that President Obamas remarks are brought to you by the letter O and the number 16 Trillion. Ouch! And theres a lot more where that came from.
My bet is that even though it was all in good fun, the left is going to hate it and will try and make something out of it. Maybe theyll put all the jokes the didnt like in a binder or something.

Loved it. He not only got some sharp jabs in on Obama, but also on the media.

The news is all good today! RCP has Romney leading the Electoral Vote. The "Swing States" have largely swung and blue states are now "swinging". obama money, pollsters and operatives are retrenching around previously solid blue territory. There was no bounce from Biden or the last Presidential debate for obama. Momentum was all Romney before this dinner; Romney filleted him while Libya, Fast and Furious, all continue to implode. Don't wan't to get cocky, but it's almost A PERFECT STORM!

Hilarious, yet biting and hard-hitting humor. I can’t say enough about Romney’s poise and delivery....truly a fantastic speaker! Loved the Big Bird comments, by the way...

There won’t be 70 million people watching. It’s Monday Night Football. Who want’s to watch a final debate for an election already decided?

Obama was enraged. The constant sipping of coffee told that tale. Im no body language expert, but that is done to distract and mask anger or nervousness. One does not criticize the boy king, even in jest! Obama is not able to laugh at himself.

A ready made political TV ad.
He has shown the other side he has the grace of King David but ready to defend what is right.

You have just given a concise review of the movie “2016” whether you realize it or not. Perhaps the movie influenced your comments? In any event, you are right on target.

This is the finest speech I have ever heard Mitt Romney deliver. Well written. Extremely well delivered. Self-depreating, but firm, forceful and on-target and the target was Obama and the Press.
Some great lines:
Rules of fairness have to be enforced, because what other protection do we have beside the press.
I would never suggest that the press is biased. They have their job to do and I have my job to do. My job is to lay out a positive vision for the country. Their job is to make sure no one ever hears about it.
It's the first time I've been truly impressed by Romney.
Great showing.

Relief is not being cocky, yes, I know this country has a long road ahead to recovery.... but, our country has gone through tuff times before and if all of us join in and pray, work hard, collectively with God's help hopefully this country might have a bright future.

I do believe you are right...the jokes have that Dennis Miller touch. Brilliant and beautiful.
