1984 Mercedes 300D I bought for $100 seven years ago.
I used to get old Dodge Darts as my $100 cars that last forever. Unfortunately, that stopped working when I moved to Illinois, where Road Salt is the state's main crop for 5 months a year. Body cancer sets in real fast, even with undercarriage washing.
And no, Mercedes-Benz cars aren't immune.
Nice car, by the way. Stately.

When we were first married my husband insisted our cars by either Dodge Darts, Plymouth Valiants or Dusters. For the very reason you give in your post. Our Duster was indestructible and lasted so long I became sick of it. When the timing chain (?) broke and he said he could fix it I vowed to let the car go into the river if he did.
