Obama Didn’t Let Liberals Down, Liberalism Did

For the past twenty-four hours, the mainstream media and other supporters of President Barack Obama have been trying to figure out why their candidate lost Wednesday night's debate. Some blamed his professorial manner. Others blamed his body language. Al Gore even blamed the altitude in Denver. But the truth is Mr. Obama was not able to defend his record or make a case for extending his presidency because he, and those who support him, are just plain wrong. The president didn't let liberals down. The ideology they share with him did.

Few if any have been better suited to carry the progressive banner than Barack Hussein Obama. His bi-racial background, international upbringing, Ivy League education, experience as a community organizer and personal style made him perfect on paper to so many who wanted the United States fundamentally transformed. But when the manual was set aside and the hard work of governing began, so-called progressive policies were doomed to fail.

Sweeping into office on a wave of hope and joining a Congressional majority of like-minded Democrats, President Obama set about creating the liberal utopia progressives have dreamed of for decades. But after spending trillions of tax dollars on big government programs he promised would provide affordable health care, alternative energy, economic prosperity and more; all he delivered was a staggering $5.4 trillion increase in our national debt, trillion dollar deficits ever year, an unemployment rate stuck at over 8 percent and a bitterly divided country of too few makers and too many takers.

In addition to expanding the size, scope and cost of government, President Obama’s foreign policy is another failure sure to be exposed in the next debate. The apologies and appeasements which were supposed to foster a new era of mutual respect between the United States and Muslims around the world, have brought about a very different result. The Arab world is exploding anew with chants of Death to America. Iran is perilously close to a nuclear weapon. The US Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were murdered in a planned terrorist attack in Benghazi. Yet rather than admit the failure and foolishness of his liberal ideas with regard to foreign policy, the president and his minions repeatedly claim the fault lies with a YouTube video and freedom of speech.

With such a dismal domestic and international record, is it any wonder why Mr. Obama lost the debate? Of course he could have been more dynamic, could have looked up from his podium to address Mr. Romney man-to-man and could have lost the ever-present smirk. But that wouldn't have changed the fact that he had nothing substantive to offer on the issues. Forced for the first time to defend his misguided ideas in the face of common sense challenges, even the smoothest, coolest and most eloquent spokesman for liberalism could not defend its obvious failure.

Confronted with viable alternatives, the president's attempt to attack his opponent amounted to nothing more than the strawman arguments he has been using for months. Unfortunately for him, lying about Governor Romney’s proposed policies is not as easy when the truth is standing just a few feet away. The simple statement that deflated the president and defused his grade-school tactic: "I have five boys," said Mr. Romney, "I'm used to people saying something that's not always true but keep on repeating it and ultimately hoping I'll believe it."

Bottom line, Mr. Obama failed in Wednesday's debate for the same reason his presidency has failed. Since his first day in office he has done exactly what his supporters elected him to do and he is left with the impossible task of trying to defend the horrendous results.

First off - Thank you for posting your full article here.

Second - I would take issue with your premise, that being the assumption that The Usurper’s actions are well intentioned Liberalism put into practice.

I do not believe that The Usurper is a Liberal in the classic mold FDR or JFK or Hubert Humphrey. He is something else altogether.

This fraud was placed where he is today by people totally inimical to the interests of the United States, primarily George Soros. He is not here to reform our system in any way. He is here to destroy it.

In this framework, his actions make perfect sense, and he has succeeded remarkably well. The only thing he has not yet done on the Soros checklist, is the suspension of The Constitution followed by Martial Law and the establishment of a totalitarian police state.

But he still has three months left. Don’t think for a minute that he won’t try.

I thought Zer0’s performance was better than I expected. But how can he defend his record. It’s dismal.
Romney better be prepared for attacks next debate.

If Romney wins you can bet the months between the election and swearing in will be filled with Executive Orders and Harry Reid attempts to rams through all kinds of laws, rules, regulations.
