Clint Eastwood is a Hollywood legend, but not all of his movies were smash hits. Hes no stranger to getting poor reviews.
But he may never have received worse reviews than the ones hes hearing from late-night talk-show hosts after his performance at the Republican National Convention on Thursday night, where he spent quality time on national television in spirited debate with a figment of his imagination.
Amidst the tired rhetoric, empty platitudes and overwrought attacks, a fistful of awesome emerged in the night where it spent 12 minutes on the most important night of Mitt Romneys life yelling at a chair, Jon Stewart said on The Daily Show.
Much to the Romney campaigns dismay (and to Sen. Marco Rubio, who might have otherwise earned headlines for his introduction of the nominee), Eastwoods argument with an invisible man was the story of the day...

I heard they already found a chair.
If you are 30 or less “Eastwooding” is the newest fad.
I don't give advice to the GOP but for me I liked it but I'm not the future...
It may take them a while to begin to realize that the image so carefully created can vanish in a moment if there's no "there" there.
You are so right, people who saw it know how good it was. Those that did not, will now want to see it.
Clint Eastwood is living in Obama’s “empty” head rent free.
When Obama tweets back at 12:30 AM. Eastwood got him.
Just like a Dirty Harry movie. Eastwood made our day!
Last week, Clink was playing a character that went over the heads of these late night hacks. In a couple of weeks his new movie promotion begins and he’ll be on all these shows but not in chaaracter. They have no choice but to ask him about this speach and he will get to make all the Obama jokes again without the Jimmy Stewart impersonation. Maybe then, they’ll get it. Either way, Obama gets trashed and mocked all over again.
It’s going to be sweet revenge.
I’m looking forward to Clint going on the Leno show and soberly make every point he did in Tampa (this during the Democrat Convention). This would destroy Obama and I don’t think the party would let that happen.
If we are talking about Obama there is not enough there to ask Where
Trouble With The Curve - Release date Sept. 21, 2012
Get the popcorn ready for the promo tour.
Hey, Alloysteel, that was a brilliant observation, and I concur.
Stewart is in some Journo-list style loop with the WH. He repeats the talking points and the “I wish I’d thought of that” lines. There to target the young and naive voters.
Liberals just don’t get it do they, the chair was a SYMBOL of Obama, Empty chair = empty suit President..libs just can’t stand it when their messiah gets teased, it just pisses them off to no end, they cant stand it
YOu put it well. Reminds me of Ann Coulter and the 9-11 liberal women.
Ive seen the preview for that movie. It actually looks pretty good, I was going to see it before Eastwood appeared at the RNC Convention now I will definitely be seeing it
Someone wrote this earlier ,and I kinda liked it. “One doesn’t cuss about bee stings, unless they have been stung.”
Clint effectively showed that Alinsky can be countered. The problem with isolating, ridiculing, and freezing is that if used in a knee-jerk fashion like the Left does, you can be drug around like a puppet on a string. Eastwood illustrated they will go after anyone, anywhere, anytime with ruthless bloodthirsty abandon - even our country’s biggest icons.
Not the best image you want to project in the middle of an election.
Are you kidding? The late night shows draw far more skulls full of mush than any political convention ever did. What this tells me is that Eastwood's bit must have been very effective so the late-night spin doctors must make sure the youth vote gets the right "message."
For years the Lenos, Lettermans, Mahers, Saturday Night Lives ad nauseum have been "interpreting" political events to inflame and misinform the ignorant. Their sole goal is to ridicule the Right and send more liberal voters to the polls. It's been very effective too.
I was about to read the article. Then I noticed it came from NBC News; so I won’t even bother. Still, it doesn’t surprise me that the late night talk show hosts will take their jabs at Eastwood. They always do that to Republicans, anyways. As with the many of their ilk, they are all in it for the 0 anyways. To me, it all seems to be a reactionary means of beating back or downplaying the successful impact of Mr. Eastwood’s impromptu speech/act. While I’m sure their comedic retorts will still work on the naive, the illogical, and the pathological sociopaths, I believe many who are faced with the current harsh realities brought about by this presidency are being turned around.
As that date will be my 77th birth day I plan on being one of the first ones in line, to see my first theater movie in five years.
I doubt there will be a “Empty Chair” in the theater!
