Politicians sometimes think they can get away with saying something profoundly offensive or just plain stupid by acting like it was a joke. It never works, just like it didn’t work today when Mr. Romney shamelessly played the birther card in what seems like an increasingly desperate campaign against President Obama.
Speaking in Commerce, Mich., about his Michigan roots, Mr. Romney said: “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”
Get it? Everyone knows he’s from Michigan, but nobody is really sure where the president is from.
It’s not like Mr. Romney has shunned the birther crowd. He took the stage earlier this year with Donald Trump, who ranted about Mr. Obama’s citizenship. Mr. Romney’s son, Matt, said during the primaries that his father might consider releasing his tax returns if Mr. Obama released his birth certificate and his grades.
In April 2011, Mr. Romney himself used the “well if he says so” dodge that many Republicans love. “I think the citizenship test has been passed,” Mr. Romney said. “I believe the president was born in the United States. There are real reasons to get this guy out of office.”
Citizenship test? Barack Obama did not have to take a citizenship test. And why couldn’t Mr. Romney cut out the “I believe” preamble? The president was born in the United States.
But today’s crack was way over the line. His audience laughed and applauded, probably not because they thought Mr. Romney was doing hilarious stand-up comedy, but because they knew exactly what he was up to...

Just heard a clip of Limbaugh profusely exclaiming “Right on, right on, right on!” after playing the clip of Romney making the Birther quip. Rush sounded cathartic, like he may actually be banned from discussing it and he is encouraging Romney. If Romney goes birther he will get my vote.
Just curious....why would Rush be banned from mentioning Obama Eligibility?
Premiere Networks do not stop George Noory from mentioning it and covering it on his show
Also, Rush does not do a lot of interviews or go on Fox News, so he does not have some of the “threats hanging over him” like the Back Benchers do...with interviews being withheld and other media jobs threatened

The nationally syndicated hosts who I know have mostly ridiculed the Birthers or stayed away from the subject. Savage broached the subject but he’s the only national host I know of who gave a sympathetic ear. Anyway, I think there is heavy pressure from advertisers and station managers to avoid pointing out the obvious illegitimacy of the fraud in the WH for fear of race riots. Listen to the Limbaugh clip on GatewyPundit.com, it’s like he wants to say it himself.
Ah, forget the birth certificate thing. What I really want to know is, is this really a picture of his mother during her porn star period?
Obama and his ilk have yet to show any credible evidence and have gone out of their way and spent millions of dollars to keep records from being disclosed.
Plus the FACT Arpaio found out the WH BC was an absolute fake!
Because I'm convinced it will show that the Kenyan Marxist is not Constitutionally eligible.

We initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. We now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.
Let's just get it over with.

If Romney goes birther he will get my vote. Got to admit, I’m eating a lot of crow right now. 6 months ago I swore I would never vote for Romney. Now, after this, I’m actually starting to warm up to the guy. Hell, if he keeps this up I may have to donate to his campaign.
Excellent. About time. I have said all along the way to play this issue is not to claim one knows obama is illegal but simply ask questions. The fact there is any doubt whatsoever about a sitting president’s qualifications to be president is a powerful statement by itself.
