“The GOP-e doesn’t think that’s .....”,

Please, what is GOP-e? My understanding of the term would tend in the direction of ‘e’ alluding to a ‘lite’ self serving version of a hollowed out GOP. Is that close?

We used to refer to the REPUBLICAN ESTABLISHMENT which is entirely too much breath to waste on them, but they are a state of mind ~ the Republicans who imagine they are moderate, and in the know, and have the correct answers unlike the rest of us who are knuckle draggers and religious freakazoids.

Actually, they're pushing it to even stay in the party with that attitude, but there you have it.

Someone came up with "GOP-e" for "Republican Elite" because it was shorter, the "e" in lower casen clearly reflected our disdain for their pretension, and it took back the words "Country Clubber" and "Rank and File" so we could deal with the Conservative Republican subgroups who (1) Provide the permanent party structure (and to a degree, the money), and (2) The folks who do the door knocking and doorbell ringing, passing out literature, getting people to the polls ~ and all that sort of work ~ all unpaid, all free will, all necessary to make the party go.

I liked that GOP-e term and thought we should use it so I started using it all the time when we deal with that crowd.

It's different than Mittbot. A Mittbot is a Romney hanger-on or advocate who thinks his candidate is smarter than everybody else (hence the sometimes use of "GOP-e" in concert with Mittbot), and any criticism of his candidate is also a criticism of Mormonism, and maybe even the Snake River Valley!

So, yeah, you probably have that all figured out ~ being GOP-e is not something any sensible person wants to be, but there they are anyway. They are one of the smaller Republican factions these days.
