Best as I remember, the arson investigators who checked out the source of the fire determined that an accelerant (gasoline) had been splashed all around the interior of the farmhouse. That was the explanation given for why the fires began everywhere in the house at about the same time.

As I remember Congressional testimony, “spreading gasoline” was “suggested” by FBI investigators as a “possibility”. What came to light was Janet Reno signed off on replacing the compressed air propellant they used to gas the place with propane. When the flash bangs went in, the place went up.

IIRC, also, when flash bangs are going in, it is normal to move LEO’s forward to quick entry position. The FBI pulled back.

I watched the video of the fires many times. It is clear that it was not gasoline but a volatile vapour that had already filled the building. In my opinion, pyrotechnic tear gas caused the rapid expansion of the fire whatever the source of the ignition.

I simply do not believe the “explanations” the Feds gave. They were in CYA mode, as they often are when they make a big goof.

They lied about what type of tear gas was used.

The whole episode was totally unnecessary. When they decided to try and play commando it sealed the deal. They were not about to let some stupid Christians (whatever their quirks) go unpunished.
